It’s been another challenging week, with the government’s announcements of further measures and restrictions. But thank you all for your continued efforts to keep your communities well-informed.
We held our first Community Champions Zoom update on Wednesday evening and the slides from that are attached to this email. They focus on the three key areas we want to get out into the public domain at the moment:
- Testing
- Self-isolation
- The new NHS app, which was launched yesterday (see this short video for a 60 second overview)
The NHS has provided lots of helpful documents about the new app, all of which we’ve uploaded onto the Champions’ resources page. Do check these out and share within your communities as appropriate. We’ve also updated the FAQs document to reflect the current situation.
Act on Energy has extended its fuel voucher scheme for those in need. This will become increasingly important as we go into the winter months. Please promote and distribute the attached flyer through your networks.
The situation in Solihull has fluctuated over the last few days – the number of infections fell a little but then increased above where we were last week. This seems to be part of a wider trend of the virus spreading further. When I wrote last week, the rate was about 60 cases per 100,000 population but that’s increased to over 70 in the last day or so. There continues to be a changing geographical picture across Solihull from day to day.
Thanks again for your interest and support. We know from what the Prime Minister said on Tuesday that this phase is likely to last for four to six months.
