SMBC’s Cabinet members met on 10 November 2016 to review the Draft Local Plan whereby they approved it in principle subject to the results of a public consultation scheduled to take place from 5 December 2016 to 30 January 2017. You can read their press release and all related documents with this link:
In their Draft Local Plan they have proposed 18 sites throughout the entire borough to accommodate 6,150 extra houses by the year 2028. One site has been put forward for Meriden – up to 50 houses at the Birmingham Road site (old garage and caravan site) extending to the north of the Firs.
The results from our straw poll conducted on 24 September at the Village Hall which was published here on our website have been updated to include a summary from the Neighbourhood Plan Questionnaire. You can view it here with this Open Day results. You can read the results of the Neighbourhood Plan questionnaire with this Neighbourhood plan survey report 2016.
The parish council met with SMBC in October, before they published their Draft Local Plan to Cabinet, to share these results so as they had the view of Meriden residents before they put forwards their housing proposals. We will offer residents the opportunity to take part in this consultation at the Pavilion, Meriden Sports Park.
