Today, 23 March 2021, marks one year since the announcement of the first lockdown following the start of the pandemic. Sadly, we have lost so many loved ones during this period and today is a chance to take a moment to reflect on those no longer with us, to think of the families left behind and to look forward positively to the future.
We have all had no choice but to learn to conduct our lives in very different ways; with different waves of the virus shutting down different areas of our economy, education establishments completely reinventing the normal delivery of day-to-day tuition of our children, as well as family and friends being parted for long periods of time.
On this National Day of Reflection, let us remember those we have lost to this terrible virus, pause for a while to celebrate their lives and support those family and friends who may not have been able to say their goodbyes. Finally, let us also look ahead with hope for brighter times to come.
