Solihull Council is set to strengthen its policy on 20mph speed limits to make areas around schools, retail centres and other key locations feel safer for everyone.

Cabinet member for Environment & Highways, Councillor Ken Hawkins, has given the go-ahead for a borough-wide review following a detailed report by officers.

Welcoming the report’s recommendations, Cllr Hawkins said: “Our 20mph speed limits can bring a range of benefits to local communities, in line with our Council Plan, and these proposals will align to work to improve the environment and deliver a range of health and wellbeing benefits, while supporting economic growth in the borough.”
